Best Chicago Cubs Players Of All Time

Hey there, fellow Cubs fan! Grab a seat, let's dish on some of the best Chicago Cubs players of all time. We're talking legends here, the kind that make Wrigleyville buzz with excitement. So, pour yourself a cup of joe, and let's dive in, shall we?

Ryno: The Original Cubbie

First up, we've got Ryne Sandberg, or Ryno as we lovingly call him. This guy was a second baseman with a glove so magical, it was like he had velcro on his hands. He won ten Gold Gloves, can you believe it? And his bat wasn't too shabby either, with over 2,000 hits and 400 home runs. Now, that's what I call a well-rounded Cub.

But here's the kicker, folks. Ryno was so beloved, they retired two numbers for him - 23 and 19. I mean, who does that? Only the Cubs, baby!

Sully: The Closer You Can't Refuse

Next up, we've got a closer who was as reliable as the sunrise. I'm talking about Sandy Koufax of the Dodgers, but for our purposes, let's call him Sully. This lefty had an arm like a slingshot and a curveball that could make a grown man weep.

Sully won three Cy Young awards and pitched a no-hitter in his final season. And get this, he did it all with a bad wing! Now that's what I call a true Cub.

Hack: The Power Hitter We All Needed

Now, let's talk about a power hitter who could make the ivy in left field tremble. I'm talking about Rogers Hornsby, but you can call him Hack. This guy was a batting champion seven times, and he hit .358 for his career. That's right, .358!

Hornsby was so good, they named a street after him in St. Louis. But who's counting? We'll always claim him as our own.

Ernie: The Voice of the Cubs

Alright, let's switch gears a bit and talk about a Cub who didn't play the game, but sure as heck made it memorable. I'm talking about Ernie Banks, the Voice of the Cubs. This guy was a two-time MVP and a 14-time All-Star, but his real magic happened in the broadcast booth.

Ernie's positivity was infectious. He'd say things like, "Let's play two!" and "It's a beautiful day for baseball, isn't it?" And you know what? It always was.

Hey Hey: The Cub Who Broke the Curse

Now, we can't talk about the best Cubs players without mentioning the one who broke the curse. That's right, I'm talking about Kris Bryant. This guy was a five-tool player with a smile that could light up Wrigley Field.

Bryant won the NL MVP in 2016, and then, just for kicks, he helped the Cubs win their first World Series in 108 years. Not too shabby, huh?

So there you have it, folks. A little trip down memory lane with some of the best Chicago Cubs players of all time. Whether they were making plays on the field or warming our hearts in the booth, these Cubs legends are truly something special. Now, who's ready for another cup of coffee?
