Bill Cowher Co Owner Of Steelers

Hey there, sports fans! Grab a seat, 'cause we're about to chat about a guy who's as much a part of Pittsburgh as the Steelers' black and gold - Bill Cowher. Yep, you heard it right. Coach Cowher isn't just a former head coach, he's a co-owner of the team he once led to glory. Isn't that something?

From the Sidelines to the Boardroom

So, how did this happen, you ask? Well, let's rewind a bit. Bill Cowher, the man with the iconic mustache, was the Steelers' head coach from 1992 to 2006. In that time, he led the team to two Super Bowl victories, becoming one of the most successful coaches in Steelers' history. But then, in 2007, he shocked the football world by retiring at the age of 50.

Now, here's where it gets interesting. In 2010, the Steelers were looking for new ownership. The team's previous owners, the Rooney family, wanted to keep the team in the family but also wanted to bring in new blood. Enter Bill Cowher. The Rooneys offered him a stake in the team, and Coach Cowher, who had always been a Steelers man through and through, couldn't say no.

Coach, Owner, Legend

But wait, you might be thinking, how does one go from calling plays on the sidelines to making decisions in the boardroom? Well, it turns out, Coach Cowher is quite the multitasker. He's still involved with the team, offering his expertise and insights. But he's also got a broadcasting gig with CBS, where he provides color commentary for NFL games. Talk about a busy guy!

And let's not forget, he's still a beloved figure in Pittsburgh. Whenever he's seen around town, fans go wild. It's like seeing a rockstar, but with more football talk and less guitar solos. He's even got a statue outside Heinz Field, right there with the other Steelers' legends. Not bad for a guy who's only been an owner for a decade, huh?

But What About the Mustache?

Now, you might be wondering, what about that iconic mustache? Well, fear not, mustache lovers! It's still going strong. In fact, it's become something of a trademark for Coach Cowher. He's even got a clause in his contract that says he can't shave it off. I kid you not!

From the Sidelines to the Future

So, there you have it. Bill Cowher, from the sidelines to the boardroom, is still very much a part of the Steelers' family. And isn't that just the sweetest story? It's like the football version of a fairytale, with a little less magic and a lot more touchdowns.

And hey, if you ever find yourself in Pittsburgh, keep an eye out for Coach Cowher. You might just catch a glimpse of that legendary mustache. And who knows? Maybe you'll even get a high-five. Now that's a story worth telling!

Until next time, folks. Keep your eyes on the ball and your hearts on the Steelers. Because, as Coach Cowher would say, "It's not just a game, it's a way of life." And isn't that just the most wonderful thing?
