First Original Law And Order Cast

Hey there, TV buffs! Ever wondered who the original crew was that brought us the iconic crime drama, Law & Order? Buckle up, 'cause we're about to dive into a blast from the past and meet the OG cast that started it all. Grab a snack, get comfy, and let's chat about these TV legends!

Meet the OG Squad

Picture this: it's 1990, and Dick Wolf is cooking up a storm with his new brainchild, Law & Order. The show's got a unique recipe: a dash of crime scene investigation, a sprinkle of legal drama, and a whole lot of 'chaos and violence, it's New York, it's life, and it's happening every day.'

So, who did Wolf round up to serve this steaming hot dish of reality? Let's meet the first original cast, shall we?

George Dzundza as Max Greevey

Ever seen a grizzled, no-nonsense detective who's seen it all and then some? That's George Dzundza's Max Greevey in a nutshell. He's the seasoned detective who's got the streets of New York memorized like the back of his hand. Think of him as the wise old owl of the squad, always ready with a gruff word of wisdom.

Fun fact: Dzundza's character was written out in the second season, but his influence on the show lived on. His replacement, Lennie Briscoe (played by the legendary Jerry Orbach), was modeled after Greevey, making it a smooth transition for viewers.

Chris Noth as Mike Logan

Now, who could forget the charismatic and quick-witted Mike Logan? Played by the ever-so-dashing Chris Noth, Logan is the hot-headed, passionate detective who's always ready to mix it up with the bad guys. He's like that friend who's always got your back, no matter what.

Sound familiar? You might recognize Noth from his later role as Mr. Big in Sex and the City. Talk about a career pivot!

Paul Sorvino as Phil Cerreta

Meet Phil Cerreta, the steady, level-headed detective who's always ready to lend an ear or offer a comforting word. Paul Sorvino brought this calm, collected energy to the squad, providing the perfect balance to Noth's fiery Logan and Dzundza's gruff Greevey.

Sadly, Sorvino's time on the show was cut short due to his character's untimely demise. But his impact on the series was undeniable, and his memory lived on through the detectives who came after him.

And the Rest...

Of course, no squad is complete without a few more faces. The first season also featured Michael Moriarty as Ben Stone, the dedicated and idealistic assistant district attorney. He's the moral compass of the show, always ready to fight for justice, no matter the cost.

Rounding out the cast is Jill Hennessy as Claire Kincaid, the ambitious and intelligent assistant district attorney who's not afraid to ruffle a few feathers to get the job done. She's like the squad's secret weapon, always one step ahead of the game.

Why They're Still Cool Today

So, why should you care about this bunch of old-timers? Well, for starters, they laid the groundwork for one of the longest-running and most influential TV shows of all time. Without them, there'd be no Law & Order: SVU, no Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and no Law & Order: Organized Crime.

But more than that, the original cast brought something special to the table. They were relatable, flawed, and real. They made us care about the victims, root for the good guys, and even question our own moral compasses. And isn't that what great TV is all about?

So, the next time you're binge-watching Law & Order, take a moment to appreciate the OG cast. They might be a little rough around the edges, but they're the ones who started it all. And that, my friends, is pretty darn cool.
