How Many Hotels In World

So, you're wondering how many hotels there are in the world, huh? Well, buckle up, because we're about to dive into a world of bedbugs, bellboys, and bizarre facts that'll make you question why you ever wanted to know this in the first place.

Let's Start with the Big Guns

Alright, let's get the big numbers out of the way. According to Statista, a data-crunching behemoth, there were around 18.8 million hotel rooms worldwide in 2020. Now, before you start doing the math, remember, we're talking about rooms, not hotels. So, if you're thinking, "Wow, that's only 18.8 million hotels!" you're about to get a rude awakening.

Each hotel, on average, has about 40 rooms. So, if we do the math (and we're not afraid to, because math is our friend), we get... drumroll please... around 465,000 hotels. But hold onto your hats, folks, because we're about to blow your minds.

But Wait, There's More!

You thought we were done? Oh, no, no, no. You see, those 465,000 hotels are just the ones that are, well, official. We're not counting the ones that are, shall we say, a little more rustic. Like the ones where the bellboy is also the owner, the chef, and the maintenance guy. You know, the kind of place where the continental breakfast is a stale croissant and a prayer.

So, if we start counting those, too, we're looking at a number that's... well, it's so big, it makes a googol look like a mere goog. We're talking about a number so large, it's like trying to count the grains of sand on a beach. Or the number of times your mother-in-law has said, "You're not eating enough, dear."

Now, Let's Get Weird

Alright, enough with the big numbers. Let's talk about some of the weirdest, most wonderful, and downright bizarre hotels in the world. Like the Dog Barking Inn in Idaho, USA. Yes, you read that right. It's a hotel shaped like a giant beagle. Because why not?

Or how about the Null Stern Hotel in Switzerland? It's a hotel with no roof, no walls, and no windows. It's just a bed, a nightstand, and a view that'll make you question why you ever paid for a hotel room with a view of a parking lot.

And then there's the Ice Hotel in Sweden. It's a hotel made entirely of ice. Yes, you read that right. You sleep in a room that's literally freezing. Because, you know, why not make your vacation as uncomfortable as possible?

So, How Many Hotels Are There, Really?

Well, folks, the answer is... we don't know. And neither does anyone else. The number is constantly changing, and it's impossible to get an accurate count. But here's a fun fact to leave you with: if you were to lay out all the hotel rooms in the world end to end, you could wrap around the Earth... twice. And then some.

So, the next time you're complaining about your hotel room, just remember, there's a hotel out there that's literally made of ice. And suddenly, your problems don't seem so bad, do they?
