How Old Was Lucy Lawless In Xena

Ever wondered how old Lucy Lawless was when she first donned the leather bustier and wielded that iconic chakram as Xena, the Warrior Princess? Let's dive into the fun facts and quirky details that'll make you say, "I didn't know that!"

From "Hercules" to "Xena"

Lucy Lawless was just 28 years old when she first appeared as Xena in the spin-off series "Xena: Warrior Princess" in 1995. But did you know she was already making waves in the TV world? She had played the role of "Lysia" in the TV series "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" for two years before becoming Xena.

So, when "Xena" premiered, Lawless was already a familiar face to the audience, but she was still in her late 20s. Talk about starting a legendary career at a young age!

Lucy Lawless: The Ageless Wonder

Now, you might be thinking, "But Lucy Lawless looked so much older as Xena!" Well, that's the magic of TV and Lawless's incredible acting skills. She was actually playing a character who was supposed to be in her 30s, but Lawless made Xena's wisdom and experience shine through, making her seem older than her actual age.

And let's not forget the physical demands of the role. Lawless had to master sword fighting, horseback riding, and stunts. All that action must've made her feel (and look) older, right?

Xena's Age Through the Series

As the series progressed, Xena's age became a bit of a mystery. The show's timeline was a bit... flexible, let's say. But according to the show's canon, Xena was around 30 when the series began. So, Lawless was playing a character around her own age, but with a backstory that made Xena seem older.

Fun fact: In one episode, it's revealed that Xena was born in 600 BC. So, by the time the series ended in 2001, Xena would've been around 1600 years old. Talk about an ancient warrior!
