From Stage to Screen
Iain's journey began on the stage, way back in the 80s. He was like a young, Scottish Shakespeare, performing in theaters across the UK. But hey, even the most seasoned actors need a break sometimes, right? So, he took a leap of faith and moved to Hollywood. Talk about a big change!
His Hollywood Debut
In 1987, Iain popped up in Cousins, a romantic comedy starring Ted Danson and Isabella Rossellini. It was like a fish out of water for him, but he nailed it. After that, he was hooked on the silver screen.
Must Read
Action, Adventure, and a Bit of Drama
Iain's career is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get. One minute, he's a badass in Resident Evil (2002), kicking zombie butt as Dr. Alexander "Alex" Birkin. The next, he's playing a smooth-talking spy in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001). And let's not forget his role in The Iron Lady (2011), where he played David Cameron. Talk about range!
Game of Thrones: The Role That Changed Everything
But let's rewind for a sec. In 2011, Iain landed the role of Ser Jorah Mormont in Game of Thrones. If you're a fan, you know this show is a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Iain's character was like a loyal, yet troubled puppy, and we couldn't get enough of him. His performance was so good, it's like he was born to play Ser Jorah.

Downton Abbey: The Unexpected Guest
Just when we thought Iain couldn't get any more versatile, he showed up in Downton Abbey (2010-2015) as Sir Richard Carlisle. He was like the cat that got the cream, all smug and confident. It was a total 180 from Ser Jorah, and we loved it.
Recent Roles and What's Next
Iain's been busy bees lately. He's popped up in The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (2019) as Aughra, a wise and ancient being. And let's not forget his role in Sex Education (2019-present) as Groff, a high school headmaster with a secret. As for what's next? Well, that's a secret, isn't it? But we're sure whatever it is, it'll be worth watching.
Why We Love Iain Glen
Iain's not just an actor; he's a storyteller. He's played heroes, villains, and everything in between. He's like a chameleon, changing colors to fit each role. And that's what makes him so darn interesting. So, here's to Iain Glen, the actor who's seen it all and done it all. Cheers!
