Ever Felt Like You're Walking in Purple Shadows?
You know those days when you feel like you're walking in someone else's shadow? Like, you're doing your thing, but there's this looming presence, this 'other' that's kinda casting a purple hue over your life? Yeah, that's what we're gonna chat about today - the Society of the Purple Shadows, or as I like to call it, 'The Purples'.
Now, before you start thinking I've been sipping on the kool-aid a bit too much, let me explain. The Purples aren't some secret society with cloaks and funny handshakes. No, no, no. They're more like... well, they're like the collective 'they' that dictates what's 'in' and 'out', what's 'normal' and 'abnormal'.
Meet the Purples
Imagine you're at the mall, right? You see a group of teens laughing, taking selfies, all dressed in the latest trends. They're not following a trend set by some fashion designer in Paris, oh no, they're following the trend set by the Purples. The Purples decided that ripped jeans and crop tops were 'in' this season, so here we are, with a mall full of mini-Kardashians.

Or maybe you're at work, and you're trying to suggest a new, innovative idea. But you hesitate, because you're not sure if it's 'safe'. You're not sure if it's what the Purples would approve of. You're not sure if it's 'normal'. That, my friend, is the Society of the Purple Shadows at work.
Why Should You Care?
You might be thinking, 'Okay, so what? Why should I care about these Purples?' Well, let me tell you, the Purples have a lot of power. They dictate what we wear, what we eat, what we think, even who we love. They're the reason why you feel like you need to have the latest iPhone, or why you feel guilty for not liking avocado toast.
But here's the thing, the Purples aren't real. They're not a tangible force. They're just a collection of societal norms, expectations, and pressures. They're the echo of 'shoulds' and 'oughts' that bounce around in our heads. And the beauty of it all? We can choose to ignore them.

Breaking Free from the Shadows
Remember when you were a kid, and you could wear your favorite dinosaur t-shirt every day of the week? Remember when you could eat ice cream for breakfast and no one batted an eye? Remember when you could love whoever you wanted, without caring what anyone else thought? That's the spirit we need to recapture.
We need to start making our own trends, our own rules. We need to start living our lives based on what we want, not what the Purples dictate. We need to start being our own 'they'.
So, the next time you feel like you're walking in someone else's shadow, remember, it's just the Purples. And you don't have to listen to them. You can step out into the light, wear that dinosaur t-shirt, eat that ice cream, love whoever you want. Because at the end of the day, it's your life, and you should live it in technicolor, not purple shadows.
